Cairns Craft Beer Crawl: Behind The Scenes
On February 12, Crafty Pint published my first travel article of 2025; my Crafty Crawl of Cairns.
I hadn’t been to Cairns in nearly 10 years. My time was mostly relaxing and I had a fantastic time researching for this article, despite the many unprecedented challenges I faced (seriously).

Behind the scenes, a few notable things were happening in my life as I wrote this article.
Katie and I were housesitting for two big dogs in suburban Cairns.
It was a random family trip somehow.
I was trialling new anti-depressants that were causing me extreme dizziness.
In terms of the dogsitting, that’s part and parcel for us, half of our housesits we are taking care of dogs, seeing interesting parts of Australia and filming when we get a chance.
Once my dad heard that Katie and I were going to Cairns, he booked tickets. And invited my sister. Then he told me what he’d done. Yep. It might seem a bit r/amitheasshole but I was OK with it as he was coming to support me while I stumbled around on my new anti-depressants. In the end, it was so much fun and I obviously couldn’t have done it without Katie.
So disoriented was I from the new medication, that when walking towards Copperlode Brewing, I got so dizzy I had to sit down propped up against a hubcab on a parked car. Thankfully, the staff musn’t have seen my stumbling or did but decided to serve me anyway.
Additionally, I will reveal my favourite venue on the Cairns Crafty Crawl is without a doubt the Cock and Bull. We went there with my dad and sister twice and Katie and I went at least once again without them. I’ll let you read about it on Crafty as you wait for an article spotlighting this bucket list ticking venue.
