I Interviewed Danny Who Bought A $1.50 House In Sicily

In one of my favourite articles I wrote for AWOL, I interviewed Danny McCubbin, a Gold Coast born foodie who had previously worked with Jamie Oliver on the celebrity chef’s charitable food projects. Danny the most positive person I’ve ever interviewed. You speak to him and you want to be like him. But if you really want to be like him you have to buy a $1.50 house in the Sicilian town of Mussomeli.

These one euro homes have been in the news for years, I was not the first to interview Danny and as sure as tomatoes are red, I won’t be the last. Like his old colleague Jamie, Danny set up his own food movement based on the local cuisine and now he can’t see himself living anywhere else. So what is it like to actually buy a one euro home? If I had to break down the interview I would say;

  1. Not glamourous.

  2. Not profitable

  3. The most rewarding experience on earth.

That’s the gist of it, but you can get the full story here but just a warning that AWOL doesn’t publish content nearly as often as bennysentya.com!
